The Midtown Church of Christ began meeting in 1995 when about 50 people came together to form the congregation. Af first, the church met in the old Simon’s dress store on Laurent Street before moving to the Holiday Inn. In time the church was able to purchase land and construct a building on North Main. In the beginning, different men of the congregation preached and out-of-town preachers came when possible. Norman Starling and Leon Bridges were among the first preachers to fill the pulpit. Dave Rogers and Clay Bond followed these men and in 2016, Ronnie Scherffius began working with the church as the local preacher.
The Midtown Church of Christ is a body of Christians striving earnestly to follow the New Testament pattern and continue steadfastly in the apostle’s doctrine (Acts 2:42). The church gathers every first day of the week to worship and study together and every Wednesday evening for Bible study. Through the years the church has supported various works and missions throughout the world as well as sought to serve the local community.
Our doors are open to you and we would love for you to study and worship with us. Any questions you may have will be answered in kindness and with a book, chapter and verse of the Bible.
